Parsons Public Library offers contactless curbside service starting May 11

Parsons Public Library offers contactless curbside service starting May 11

Beginning Monday, May 11, the Parsons Public Library will begin contactless curbside pick-up on the east side of the library.

While the library building remains closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the no-contact pick-up service will be available Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“While the library is still closed, the library staff is excited to serve our community again,” said Samantha Graven, library director. “We are taking extra precautions, because this pandemic is still affecting us locally and statewide. Our dedication to the safety and health of our staff and patrons remains our top priority.”

Patrons will be able to place hold requests on books, audiobooks and movies, with a limit of 10 per card.

Participating in this service is relatively simple. Patrons can use the online catalog found on our website at parsonslibrary.org, or by calling the library at (620) 421-5920. At this time, interlibrary loan has not resumed. Requests must be limited to items owned by the library.

Once the requested items are pulled, a library staff member will call and make arrangements for pick-up and remind you to park on the east side of the library. Be sure to bring your library card with you.

When you arrive at the library, call the library and tell us you are here. You will be asked to provide your name and library card number. At this time, your items will be checked out and bagged. Your bag will be labeled with the last five digits of your library card number and first three letters of your last name. Your bagged items will then be placed on the pick-up table located outside on the east side of the library. For your safety (and ours!), please wait in your car until the staff member has returned to the building.

“Believe me, we miss you!” Graven said.  “We miss seeing your smiles, chatting about books and movies, and, more importantly, serving the needs of our community. We are currently working on our summer reading programs, and when the plan is finalized, we will share it with you. We look forward to seeing you at the library.”
